It is a dream, but United Nation try to fulfill it. An amount between $3.5 trillion and $5 trillion every year until 2030, will it be the weapon that can win poverty? World’s leaders want to approve a new 17 broad goals plan (read the draft here).
By 2030, two goals are: eradicate extreme poverty and end hunger.
It seems very ambitious. Extreme poverty is measured as people living on less than $1.25 a day. According to World Bank, over one billion people lived on less than $1.25 a day in 2011. We haven’t any reason to believe that this data is different today. Laudato.si will follow this battle.
